Ghost Card Made With Paper Doll Dress Up Cricut Cartridge
I wanted to make this cute ghost card for Halloween. I cut it out in white card stock. I used the ghost from the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge. I welded the card in Design Studio. Ran it through the Xyron Machine and then poured Martha Stewart Crystal Fine on it. I rubbed and pressed it into the card and then shook off the excess. I wanted the eyes to stand out a bit so I used a Fantastix stick and dipped it in black ink and gently went around the inside of the eyes. The ghost sparkles but the Crystal Fine does not come off. I have some orange and black crystals and Halloween ribbon that I thought that I would use to embellish the card a bit. I decided not to because I think that he looks pretty good just like he is. Sometimes a ghost, is just a ghost. I took a few pictures and they did not really show the card well so I thought that I see if it would turn out better in a little video.
My New Pink Cricut Expression and First Pink Journey Cartridge Cut File
I am so excited. Yesterday I was able to get a pink cricut expression machine from Michael’s. I am even more thrilled because in less then 5 hours after buying my pink one I sold my other one. I had asked Kim from the cricut lovers yahoo group if it would be okay to post an ad and she did give me permission. I was working on it when a friend stopped bye for a visit and bought it from me. She did not realize you could cut fabric, vinyl and do other things with the cricut. When I showed her the things I have made, she was amazed.
Since I am giving away vinyl on my blog I really wanted to do a video demonstration but I can’t figure out how to hook up the video camera to record it and me not be in the way. My work area is about 6×6 and I don’t have a lot of room. My husband said he would help me figure something out so maybe I will have something soon. My first cut on my new pink cricut machine was from the Pink Journey cricut cartridge. I cut it out in pink vinyl and it cut perfectly.
I am including the cut file if you are interested in downloading it. I also included a picture guide on what parts to hide the contour on. Design studio does not allow that feature to be saved in the cut file so you will have to do it manually if you decide to cut this.
School Word Book Made With A Child’s Year Cricut Cartridge
When do you know when you are seriously addicted to your cricut and scrapbooking? When you tell your 2 year old that you are going shopping and she jumps up and down excitedly yelling that we are going to Micheal’s and Joann’s. When I pull into the parking lot of Micheal’s I get a serious….momma.. I hold hand… I want to go to Micheal’s. If someone were to hear her say it, it would sound like she wants to go see her friend Michael and Joann. It is so funny and cute and the same time. I guess I do have to admit I am an addicted. Yesterday we went to Michaels and they had A Child’s Year cricut cartridge in stock. They also had Ashlyn’s Alphabet. It is the first time I have seen them there and they have all cartridges on sale this week $39.99. I was only going to buy one but don’t you know… I ended up with both.
I love the A Child’s Year Cricut Cartridge. It has the cutest little fairy. Here is a picture of one of them.
I thought that font included in this cartridge was really cute as well. So I played around a little bit in Design Studio tonight and came up with a school word book. It made it intending to hide the contour on both of the O’s. DS does not allow me to save the cut file that way so If you don’t want the center of the O’s cut out you will have to hide the contour before you cut the pages. Also the A Child’s Year cartridge does not have a rectangle on it so I have to use the Plantin Schoolbooks cricut cartridge for the rectangle part. If you don’t have the Plantin Schoolbooks cartridge and have another cartridge with a rectangle on it I can update the cut file for you. Just let me know the cartridge that you have. You can send me an e-mail using the “contact me” form on the right.
My Top Gypsy Question Answered (Partially)
I have posted several times that I really want the gypsy. The one question that I wanted answered I did not find anywhere so I called Provocraft this morning and asked them. If I create a cut file in Design Studio can I transfer the file to be cut on the Gypsy? Vice versa, transfer the file from the Gypsy to Design Studio? The answer I received this morning….. No first and then yes. I was told the Gypsy version that will launch will not be compatible with Design Studio and vice versa but later updates will make it compatible at some point. I wonder if it will be just an update to the Design Studio or if it will be another version that you have to purchase. Rumor has it that they are working on Design Studio Pro and I have a hunch that this software will be the only one compatible with the Gypsy. So in other words you will have to buy a brand new program to make them work together. Just a hunch, but If I was a betting person I would bet that I am correct on this one.
**updated September 17th***
I called Provocraft this morning and I specifically asked if you had all of your cartridges loaded on the Gypsy and plugged it into your cricut could you cut from Design Studio? The answer was no, but you can transfer the file to the Gypsy and cut it that way. I advised her that I had just called yesterday and they told me that DS cut files will not work on the Gypsy. She had to place me on hold and came back and said that I was right. At some point an update somewhere to something will make it compatible. It is really disappointing that you still need all of your cricut cartridges to use DS. The thought that it would act like a juke box was awesome. I will still get the Gypsy. I have to work the night of the HSN launch so I am going to see if my dear husband will stay up and see if it is a good deal or not.
**Updated September 19th**
Thanks to Sarah on the Cricut Lovers Yahoo message board for sharing information she found on the cricut.com message boards. The link to see the message yourself can be found here. I am very excited to read that Design Studio will be updated and that you will be able to share files between the DS and Gypsy as soon as the HSN release. I am not sure why when I called Provocraft in the 2 situations I posted above that they did not share that same information with me. I am just looking to be an informed buyer. If the truth really was that it was not going to be compatible with each other at launch I was okay with that as long as I knew that before I purchased it. I dont’ want to fork over that kind of money to anyone and not have a clear understanding what it will do for me. I am excited, if the DS update comes out as planned then it will be the icing on the cake so to speak. My husband has agreed to stay up and watch the HSN launch and record it for me. I have also checked out the HSN. I am not much of a TV shopper. If you have an Iphone, you can download an application for it and watch the broadcast of the show. I tried it out and it worked pretty well. I am not sure how long the lag is between the application and live tv though.
I also wanted to share that Cutting Above blog is giving away 2 Gypsys. I have not done it, but there a few things that you have to do to be eligible in the contest. Click on the blinkie for more information.

My Son’s Birthday Card Made With Plantin Schoolbooks Cricut Cartridge
I wanted to make a birthday card for my son so I made this. I was going to use some toys from the new arrival cricut cartridge for the center of the circles but I decided to use foam dimensional stickers from Jolee instead. It is an a2 size card made from the plantin schoolbooks cricut cartridges.
I think the close up of the card was to close so I am uploading another picture.
I thought that I would upload the cut file if anyone would like it. I made 2 versions. One for plantin schoolbooks and the other using only the george cartridge. Both are included in the same zip file. Score the card at 4.25 inches.
I think that this card can be used for a lot of different things. I have some cute Jolee dimensional baby stickers that would be awesome as well. The little booties and stuff fit perfectly inside the center of the circles.
3 New Cartridges Added To Cricut Design Studio
Cricut Design studio has been updated with 3 new cartridges. The three new cartridges are Pink Journey, Gypsy Wanderings and Gypsy Font.
If you have not yet downloaded the latest font pack for design studio you can do so here.
Here are a few screen shots.
Pink Journey. Yeah for Provocraft. They are finally coming out with one to support breast cancer. I absolutely will be buying this cartridge.
Pink Journey
Gypsy Wanderings is a cartridge that will only be available on the Cricut Gypsy. If you want to learn more about the Gypsy check http://www.provocraft.com/gypsy/test-drive.html.
Gypsy Wanderings
Gypsy Font
I still have not pre ordered a gypsy yet. I know that www.ohmycrafts.com has a 20% off deal going on right now that ends tonight. You can enter BTS20 for 20% off any order. They also have the new cartridges on pre order as well. I can’t decide if I want to spend the extra money right now and pre-order it at Michael’s. From what I understand they are going to have the Gypsy out first (October 4th) and exclusively until November when other retailers and online stores will start selling/shipping them. If you are interested in knowing more about Michael’s pre order you can visit there site at http://michaels.com/art/online/static?page=Gypsy-by-Cricut.
Bride Word Book Cut File Made With Cricut Story Book Cartridge
I had a request for this on my wordbook survey so I thought that I would work on this tonight. It is a Bride wordbook done with Storybook cricut cartridge only. I think that the Storybook font makes this bride book look very enchanting. I have some wonderful papers that I bought months ago at Joann’s that would be perfect. Top it off with the bind it all, it would be a perfect gift for any bride.
Simply Sweet Butterfly
I wanted to do something with one of my new cartridges so I decided to work with Simply Sweet. I love butterflies so here is what I came up. I created a square, a butterfly in a square and the butterfly and cut them out and assembled the. I just ran the pieces through the xyron machine backwards to put glitter on them. I have to say that it looks nicer in person that in the picture. The butterfly is foam mounted so it is raised off the paper. I am going to use if for the front of a square card. A just because card. I was thinking that I should have embossed the purple background to give it texture. I have the swiss dots one and I think that it would have made it look very nice.
A Few Don Juan Cricut Cartridge Cut Files
I work nights and I was on my way home tonight a little after midnight and I had the hell scared out of me. I was coming up to a T. I saw a car turning left, coming in my direction and the idiot did not go completely around the divider to complete his left turn and came at me head-on on my side of the road. It is a four lane road 2 lanes each direction. I got over to the other lane to get out of the way. I would have called the police but it startled me so bad that I could not even think of what kind of car it was, the color. I probably would have sounded like a babbling idiot. I am just thankful for home and family. I woke up my husband to tell him and give him a kiss. Checked on my babies. That is what it is really about.
I have not had a chance to cut this file yet, but it is a believe wordbook with Don Juan and Plantin School book. If anyone wants this in the 6×12 format or with a different square cartridge let me know and I will see what I can do for you. I love this cartridge. This is the first word book where I decided to leave the open spaces. You could hide the contours on the inside of the letters but I figured with all the E’s in this book that it would look better how it is. I can not wait to get my DS going again to cut it out.
