2009 Wordbook SVG
Today I had a little bit of time to work on another word book. Here is a 2009 wordbook to cut on your cricut. I just wanted a simple wordbook that I could embellish and put a few pictures of my kids in to give as a gift.
With the latest update to SCAL 2 I wanted to share how easy it is now to import a single wordbook svg into SCAL 2 and separate the layers and have them ready to cut on your cricut in just a few minutes. I included the complete svg file in the zip file for download but also included the separate layers svg files as well for people still using scal1 software.
Scalloped Heart Valentine Sweet Box
Can you believe stores already have Valentines Day items out. I decided that I might as well get started on Valentine’s Day things. I came up with a scalloped heart valentine box that you can fill with sweets for all the sweeties in your life. Plus, it is just fun to cut this on your cricut and put it together.
I used Martha Stewart glitter on the outer hearts and a satin ribbon for the handle. I used foam pop dots to secure the glittered hearts to the box.
Scalloped Purse SVG
I thought that this purse might be cute for my daughter to play with. We used some paper punches today and punched out little scalloped circles. She calls them flowers, so I thought that she could put them in here.
Here is the purse svg to cut on your cricut. The svg and the scut with score guide is included in the zip file.
Happy New Years!!!!
Happy New Year!!!! I can not believe that another year has come and gone. I am thankful for my family, friends and all the blessings that I have received this past year. I hope that 2010 finds you in good health with lots of happiness. Today is the 1 year anniversary of mycricutscrapbooking.com. I am thankful for each of you for stopping by and spending a little time here.
I have decided to celebrate this past year by having a give away. The give away is 2 parts. 1 winner will win the entire blog candy give away.
Part 1
Yesterday I was shopping at Michaels and I came across the Sizzix Texture Boutique. I have the Sizzix Big Kick that I just love but decided since I had a 50% off coupon and the machine came with a bunch of new folders that I would get it.
I LOVE this little machine and so does my daughter. We had so much fun doing this together. I cut the paper and made the sandwich and she turns the crank. My sister stopped by today to wish us a Happy New Year and my daughter had a blast showing her how to use it.
This machine is so cute!
Here are the folders it comes with.
and more
In case you are wondering…. cuttlebug folders do work in it.
Here is a 5×7 christmas folder
Here is an A2 folder
I have some older Sizzix embossing folders and they work great as well.
Part 1 of the blog candy is this, brand new in the box, Sizzix Texture Boutique with 10 Bonus embossing folders. (The pictures above opened were of my machine, yours will be sent new in box, unopened.
Part 2
The second part of the blog candy give away is your choice *up to 800 point value* of 1 cartridge that is currently available on the www.cricutrewards.com site. You can pick the cartridge as long as it is in stock, I will order it and once it is delivered, will mail it to you. Due to the time that it takes to get the cartridge from the rewards program the Sizzix Boutique will be mailed first and once the cartridge is received it will be mailed in a second package.
Rules
Please share one of (leave 1 comment on this post) your favorite cricut projects, experiences or story from the past year.
One of my memories from the past year that is a favorite is on a Sunday, I was working on my computer creating a svg. I finished it and wanted to test cut it. My daughter and son were standing on the couch looking at me (my desk is in the living room behind the couch) I told my son that mommy was going to cricut. He got a huge smile on his face and said cric-cut, and would giggle and laugh. My daughter said she wanted to cric-cut too! I put a cartridge in and loaded the mat for her and let her push the button. She was so proud of the Hello Kitty head that she cut and ran to show daddy that she cric-cutted.
I will read through the comments and choose 1 winner on January 9th. Due to excessive international shipping cost this blog candy is United States shipping only, sorry.

A Bird House (With A Pretty Bird) SVG
Happy Holidays everyone, I hope you had a safe and happy Merry Christmas. I was able to have a little bit of fun today with my cricut. After I cut the bird house out on my cricut and glued it together I knew that it needed a bird but I was not sure what to use. I don’t have any bird embellishments. A few months ago I bought computer printable Shrinky Dinks with a 40% off coupon from Michaels. I decided to go ahead and make my own bird embellishment.
I bought some bird clipart from Country Graphics. Trina Clark has some amazing clipart (digital stamps too!) I imported the clipart that I wanted to use into inkscape. I set up the document for an 8×10 sheet. I followed the instructions included in the Shrinky Dink kit. I had to reduce the opacity 50% on the clipart before printing and then printed the clipart out on the dull side of the sheet.
I then cut out the bird image. I used my Cutter Bee scissors from Joanns and they worked perfect. I just took my time around the beak and tail.
I pre-heated the oven for 300 degrees. The instructions said to cut a rectangle out of a brown paper grocery bag and place that on the cookie sheet and then put the Shrinky Dink on the paper to bake. I just used a piece of card stock since I did not have a brown paper bag. I baked the bird for about 3 minutes. I watched it the whole time just like a little kid. I thought that it was ruined in the beginning because it was bent and distorted but as the last minute completed it began to lay flat. It turned out very nice. I am extremely happy with this and know that I will be using this more often. This is what it looked like when I took it out of the oven. Amazing right?
Here is the birdhouse with a scalloped edge roof.
Sorry the picture is a little fuzzy. I have tried every which way and color back drop to try and get this clear but with my light and camera, unfortunately this is the best that I am going to get tonight. The little bird is really cute, and a crisp image and turned out very cute. I don’t have the acrylic glaze that it recommends that you coat it with to protect it but I will pick some up later.
Where is Santa? Bell and Christmas Tree SVG
Where is Santa? Did you know that there is a toll free number that you or your kids can call to track Santa? There is also a website as well. As of 8:44 a.m. central time Santa was last seen at Yakutsk, Russia and his next stop will be Irkutsk, Russia.
Track Santa’s Sleigh this Christmas Eve
As the famous song about Santa Claus goes, “he sees you when you’re sleeping, he knows when you’re awake.” But this Christmas Eve, children around the world will be able to see Santa while he’s awake flying around the world on his sleigh. Verizon is again teaming with the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) to provide a special toll-free number for children and their parents to determine Santa’s exact location. Starting Dec. 24 at 2 a.m. Mountain time through 3 a.m. Mountain time on Dec. 25, children in the U.S. and Canada can call 1-877-HI-NORAD to speak with a volunteer at the military center and find Santa’s whereabouts. Callers outside North America can dial 719-556-5211. Children can also visit the NORAD Tracks Santa Web site www.noradsanta.org, to track Santa’s location with radar maps and view the streaming SantaCam. Last year, nearly 74,000 calls were answered at the NORAD Tracks Santa Operations Center at Peterson Air Force Base.
Here is a Christmas Tree for you to cut on your cricut.
What is Christmas with out bells, here is a set of Christmas Bells.
This will probably be my last post for the next few days, so be safe and have a Merry Christmas.
Scalloped Bag SVG for SCAL
I am working on a few little things for my friends and I needed a little bag to put a few items in. This is what I came up with. I made it the first time around as an all in one piece but I needed it to be larger and it was to difficult to work with 1 piece so I broke it up into 3 pieces. The sides are 2 inches and the front and back are 3 inches. The height is 4 inches. It is a pretty good size bag. I included the scut file for this because It is just about to the edges on the cricut mat and I thought that it would be helpful. The score guide is included in the zip file as well. Happy cutting on your cricut!
Creating Word Layers In Inkscape
Here is a video on how to create layered words to cut on your cricut. I used Inkscape and a font called Old Christmas but you really can use just about any font on your computer. Some fonts cut better then others on you cricut though.
If you have trouble viewing the video, you can download the mp4 here.
